Re: Best reverbs !?

A while back I asked about 32-bit compatible spring reverb plugins in this thread and tbh was surprised when someone recommended Twangström. I have to fully agree with what jens has been saying here on the last two pages. His profile is now listed as "suspended"; I hope that doesn't have anything to do with his criticism here because he's simply right.

To be fair though, TS isn't the only spring emulation that doesn't deliver what it advertises. Eventide's would be another that I found disappointingly artificial. Softube's Spring Reverb is ok for "twang" but comes with too much low mid rumble to be broadly usable.

Arturia's is pretty good, and Primavera has all the twang I expect from "the" clichéd spring reverb sound, including interaction with input amplitude. Nothing I know so far compares to it in that respect. And for more plate-sounding spring emulations, TENS and TENS jr are amazing.

Edit: and to be fair to u-he, Protoverb is one of the coolest reverb plugins ever - I have yet to get more of a feeling for how to program it, but the sheer sound is awesome and I've had lots of lucky accidents with it.
