i've had problems with every type of Windows / Linux plugin.
However, for every one that failed, I can think of several that worked just fine.
I don't mind VST2, VST3, CLAP, LV2, even ActiveX/DirectX was okay (although not plugin delay compensation).
I used to use Audio Arpeggiator from AnalogX.com a lot. It was easy to use.
I will be sad to see VST2 go, but VST3 is easier to install and CLAP seems to be working out just fine too.
On Linux, Yabridge works with CLAP and LV2. And there are Linux CLAP's too. (thank god)
