This is my main EQ, I’m not afraid to admit I’m kind of dogmatic about it. As others have said, FIR, highest impulse response, Free phase with phase points below 1KHz tending to be at the bottom (minimum) and phase points above 1KHz on the middle line (linear) (this was Dave’s starting point suggestion for mastering on Gearspace years ago https://gearspace.com/board/showpost.ph ... ostcount=2), you’ll be in a good space.
Only thing to add that others haven’t mentioned is definitely try the Peaks Parallel instead of Serial. This really opens up the field and lets you get away with whatever you want without it messing up the sound too much, absolutely next level, I use it by default these days. Easily my desert island EQ, and I’m glad it doesn’t come with saturation, historically analog EQs don’t actually have much if any saturation. If you need saturation just use DMG TrackComp 2 after the fact or something.
